NFTrees: How They’re Made and How to Get One!

In this article we’ll go over how I make the NFTs in the collection NFTrees. However, the collection is still waiting to be posted, but reach out (on Twitter, or maybe in the comments feed) if you would like it sooner!

Making a Background

The NFTrees are really simple, but the background is one of the parts where the coding is a little less than obvious.

Dusk

For each pixel, the color is randomly generated between dark purples, pinks, and reds. However, the red value increases with respect to the y-coordinate, so as you move farther down, the chance of getting a redder color increases.

Noon

This is pretty simple, as the chance of getting a certain color does not change with a change in y-value or x-value. The colors range from greenish blues to deeper blues.

Night

Although also simpler, where the colors are black or very, very dark (with some darker blues mixed in), it does get slightly bluer as you go towards the bottom.

Making a Tree (At Least the Leaves)

Afterwards, there are three tree types that exist: Original (A green tree), Fall, and Cherry Blossom (a Pink One).

Cherry Blossom (on Dusk)

The Cherry Blossom trees are pink-ish, and in my opinion go best with night.

Fall (on Dusk)

The Fall trees have colors ranging from reddish-orange to yellow, and in my opinion work best with dusk.

Original (on Dusk)

Lastly, the Original trees are greenish and follow your stereotypical tree pattern. These work best with noon.

The Rest

Additionally, each tree has a randomly generated stump, which goes from maroon to brown. Similarly, there is grass on the bottom two layers of the grid. Here are some of the combinations:

That’s it for this article! I hope you learned something! (If you needed something to learn, we have yet to describe 86% of Earth’s species!) Feel free to drop your wallet below if you want an NFTree (or any other of my OpenSea NFTs!).
